Devlog 0

Welcome to Devlog 0 for my game! Over the past three months, I've been immersed in developing this project and have learned a ton along the way. This is my first official game devlog, and I'm excited to share updates and insights as they come. Your feedback is invaluable, so if you do play the game, please use the link to my feedback session to share your thoughts.

The journey began smoothly as the first two months were primarily spent gathering assets, planning, and implementing the necessary foundations. However, the last month has proven to be more challenging. Integrating all the components led to numerous bugs and compatibility issues, especially with shaders and scripts. The saving system was particularly troublesome. Initially, I wanted to create a feature-rich system with image captures for save slots, but complexities forced me to simplify for now. Though just a basic save system is operational, it's functional, and I'll revisit the enhancements later.

Lighting also posed a significant challenge. Only recently did I truly understand how baked lighting works, and after some intense research and experimentation, I managed to get it right. These efforts paid off handsomely, boosting the game’s performance from 60fps with lags to a smooth 400fps on my PC—a milestone I'm particularly proud of!

This marks the end of the first update. More updates will follow, and I appreciate your support. For more information and future updates, please visit my website. Thank you!
